"I'm Sick and Tired" - Fannie Lou Hamer Tee
Fannie Lou Hamer is a integral piece of Black history. From her amazing contributions to getting black voters registered and co-founding the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party. In 1968 she created the "Pig Bank" and a year later founded the Freedom Farm Cooperative. In 1971, Hamer helped to found the National Women’s Political Caucus. In her famous congressional run in 1964 Mrs.Hamer said “If I’m elected as congresswoman, things will be different. We are sick and tired of being sick and tired. For so many years, the Negroes have suffered in the state of Mississippi. We are tired of people saying we are satisfied, because we are anything but satisfied.”
These Pieces honor the tremendous strides Fannie Lou Hamer took to Champion for Civil Rights.
